Technological advancements in IT in the past decade has proved that it can contribute to any area which leads to Nation Development. Application of IT in core areas like Agriculture, Education, Governance and Defense has tremendous impact in the overall qualitative improvement in life. There are initiatives to utilize satellite based remote sensing data and GIS in the agriculture field. Researchers, service providers as well as the government are seriously looking at the application of IT in the education sector. The potential of IT related entrepreneurial skills, largely untapped within the student community needs to be recognized and groomed. Computer Society of India understands that it is imperative to explore new avenues and provide impetus to the application of IT in these areas.

The National Student Convention (NSC 2010) gives students the opportunity to interact with other students and professionals from all over the nation to share ideas, gain new technological options and understand possible implementations of IT in the above core areas under the theme "IT for Nation Development".

The major domains under the theme of the convention are:
  1. IT in Agriculture and Life Sciences
  2. Green Technologies
  3. IT in Education
  4. E-Governance
  5. Entrepreneurship
  6. Defense and Space Applications
